They grew up right before our eyes! Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse have been in the spotlight since they were eight months old and are now grown adults who still make us laugh. The twins have sure changed a lot in the past few years, so let’s take a look down memory lane and see their amazing transformation.
The A-list twins rose to fame as very young children. They stole the show in movies like Big Daddy, The Master of Disguise, Eight Crazy Nights and more. However, landing The Suite Life of Zack and Cody in 2005 put them on the map as full-fledged child stars. The series ran until 2008 and was followed by The Suite Life on Deck, which ran until 2011.
“Having an identical twin next to me going through the same exact experiences in a very similar way with a very similar point of view is therapeutic,” Cole told Variety Magazine in August 2019.
“When you’re a child actor, you’re a minor, and so a lot of the larger business decisions that are controlling your career are done outside of your own agency,” he continued. “One of the dangers of, at least, my position, which was a sitcom inside of a sound stage for nine years with Disney Channel, you’re raised in such an insular environment that you forget what real human experience or boots on the ground actually looks like.”
The brothers stepped away from the limelight to attend college at New York University. “We really wanted to get out of L.A. and we wanted to study in [the] city,” Cole explained to Teen Vogue in 2015.
“We chose NYU because their arts program was great and they’re a prestigious institution, but really because you’re in a city,” he added. “You’re involved in a completely different way of life. You didn’t feel trapped within a campus or in a bubble.” Cole majored in archaeology while Dylan studied video game design.
Although Cole said he had a “prospective play” he was auditioning for upon graduating from college, the Five Feet Apart actor officially returned to the spotlight as Jughead Jones on CW’s Riverdale in 2017.
As for Dylan, he became the youngest Master Brewer in the U.S. and opened his own Meadery in Brooklyn. He started dabbling again in acting with the 2017 film Dismissed. He’s worked on other projects since including Tyger Tyger and After We Collided. He also released a comic book called Sun Eater in May 2020 based loosely on his relationship with his mother.
